The WIKARUS Company of the Year Award for business excellence in the State of Salzburg goes to has·to·be gmbh
Radstadt, 18th November 2021. Awarded by the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce and the State of Salzburg, and supported by partners Salzburger Sparkasse, Salzburger Nachrichten and ORF Salzburg, the WIKARUS Awards are the region’s most coveted honors for outstanding performance in business. With the awards divided into three categories, a pair of top-class juries nominated five companies for each – and has·to·be gmbh was crowned with the sought-after prize for Company of the Year. Headquartered in Radstadt in the State of Salzburg, the EV Charging software provider convinced in every department thanks to its success in recent years, innovative spirit, unique company culture and economic value to the region.
What initially began as a two-man operation, founded by Martin Klässner and Alexander Kirchgasser in 2013, has grown to become the European market leader for EV Charging solutions with 145 employees. Klässner has remained loyal to Radstadt, keeping the base in Salzburg State. In early 2021, the company moved into a new office complex on the ‘Stadler property’ in the town center. In summer came the announcement that the American ChargePoint group would take over has·to·be gmbh – the biggest exit in Austrian start-up history to date. And now the company’s CEO Klässner and CTO Michael Engl have just taken delivery of the Company of the Year award, delivered to the has·to·be gmbh offices by Salzburg Chamber of Commerce President Peter Buchmüller. A decision not to stage an awards ceremony was taken on the grounds of the latest developments in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Clear roadmap for long-term growth
“I’m particularly happy about this award on a personal level,” said Klässner upon accepting the trophy. “It shows that we chose and followed the correct path. I’d like to thank my team, which is the most important pillar in our success as a company. Together we’ve proven that IT expertise can be a successful business even in a rural area.”
Klässner believes the way forward for the company’s growth is also clear: “The takeover by ChargePoint is an opportunity to become the international market leader in the EV Charging software solutions sector. We’ll be growing rapidly here in Radstadt and are looking for plenty of new talents who can help us on the road to that goal up ahead.”
